Ammolite is Canada’s birthstone because it’s only mined in Lethbridge, Alberta , Canada. It was designated Canada’s gemstone for Canada’s 150th birthday in 2017. Many people mistake it for the black opal from Australia because of its beautiful colours. We have been selling Ammolite jewellery since 1984 . We get our stones directly from the mine and we choose each stone to set it in the perfect setting.

Ammolite is a very rare gemstone and has become quite valuable since its first discovery in 1983. It is cut from a large fossilized shell like creature , a nautilus , that lived during the dinosaur era.

The Ammolite gemstone is cut into many variety of shapes both into a natural free-form doublet and into a triplet. The Naturals are rare and harder to find on the market. They are polished and cut following the natural shape of the stone along with the backing matrix. Ammolite is mostly found on the market as triplets cut into cabochons with either quartz or spinel caps to protect the Ammolite stone during the cutting and polishing process  .This beautiful Natural free-form Ammolite has a striking blue , green and purple colour. Both blue & purple colours are very rare.
